Mountains & Volcanoes

From north to south, our country has a number of mountain formations, grouped into four ranges: Guanacaste, Tilarán, Central and Talamanca. Of the four, the latter is the only one that does not have volcanoes, but it is the Cerro Chirripo, the highest point in Costa Rican territory.

Some volcanoes, you can get up close to the crater, while for safety reasons, others are having to watch from afar.

But regardless of how close you can get, all offer unique characteristics that make them very interesting, as the crater of Poas (the second largest in the world), the Irazu has a crater from which you can see another of the three craters that owns and Arenal, which is almost perfect cone, and often provides the nights, eruptions are a spectacle to sight.
