Irazú Volcano

A volcano with a crater from which one can see another crater... it sounds strange, but it is true. This volcano is Irazú with 3432 meters over sea level (11260 feet). It is located in Cartago province, in Central Volcanic Mountain range.

It has three craters: the main one has a beautiful color emerald lagoon, which can be seen from Hermosa Beach crater, whose wide surface and sand, is the source of its name. There is another crater: Diego de la Haya, that has the name of a Spanish governor that in 1723 documented an eruption of the colossus.

When the sky is clear, it is possible to see Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Some kilometers from Irazú, there are very interesting places, as Ujarrás ruins and Cachí Lagoon, where one can ride an aquatic moto.
