Known as " The Pacific Pearl", Puntarenas's city has much that to offer to the visitor. This coastal city has a wharf, at which cruises arrive. Also Puntarenas has a wharves from ferries depart to a tourist destinations like Paquera and Cóbano, as well as tours around the islands of Nicoya's Gulf and mangrove swamps of Puntarenas estuary.

Puntarenas's beach extends for the whole coast of the city, from the mouth of Barranca River to the place known as "La Punta. Boca Barranca is a good place for the surf lovers. This place has the most traditional wave that be could be found in Costa Rica, a well-shaped left breaking wave.



The sector that goes from the wharf of Cruises up to " The Top ", is preferred by the bathers and parallel to this one, the Walk of the Tourists is situated, where a delicious "Churchill" will make the visitor enjoy even more his stay in "El Puerto".



Another of Puntarenas's attractions is the Marine Park, where the visitor can appreciate great variety of species of the biodiversity of the costarican Pacific, included the Cocos Island.
